I have always danced! Movement is vital to the body and mind! So, at the age of six years old, under the keen eye of Maria Bekefie, Russian Prima ballerina, I began to see the many ways our bodies move. After classical ballet training for 15 years I tried a myriad of sports and the physical fitness craze. After much urging from my mother to practice yoga I finally took her suggestion.
In 2001 I became certified at the 200 hour level from the Expanding Light Ananda’s Yoga and Meditation Retreat under the watchful guidance of Diksha and Gyandev McCord. This past April I attended Duke Integrative Medicine for an eight day intensive training for therapeutic yoga for seniors. I am currently teaching this population for accreditation in this field.
Many trainings from inspiring yogis such as: Erich Schiffmann, Max Strom, Shiva Rea, Rod Stryker and closer to home the mellifluous Lourdes Paredes, who guides me with such a deep depth of spirituality.
I love to teach a Renaissance class, offering the possibility of dance in its many forms.
I incorporate music, visualization and the creative movement in class that allows one to find spacial fluidity within the body and mind. I offer a path to practitioners seeking a profound shift in their outlook and to show them that the breath needs greater space within the body to give them structure, calmness of mind, to increase the life-force in your body.
A favorite quote of mine is:
“Perfection does not interest me. What is important is to {make oneself and others}VIBRATE”
