In the House of Shanti Teacher Training you will experience an amazing journey of exploring the living of Yoga through many dimensions: asana, philosophy, the subtle body, teaching skills, bhakti (devotion), kula (community), and sadhana (personal practice) taught by teachers who love to teach Yoga and are passionate about safe and creative Yoga classes. In the Fall 2012, your guides will be Pam Udell and Lourdes Paredes who together have 25 years of teaching experience in Chicago and the North Shore. We will guide you beyond the experience of taking a class to developing Yoga as an approach to daily life and towards developing the skills to teach and share Yoga in a variety of settings, whether you choose to teach Yoga classes or just live and understand more deeply Yoga concepts. In addition to Pam and Lourdes, there are several scheduled workshops (during class time) where instructors who specialize in an area (kundalini, Yoga for the baby boomer, prenatal Yoga and more) come in to share their knowledge.
Through weekly group practice, study of the Yoga Sutras and other Yoga texts, self inquiry, thorough presentation and discussion of alignment as well as study of anatomy and sequencing principles, and practice teaching, you will develop your unique voice as a Yoga teacher. You will learn how we use this knowledge to safely guide ourselves and students in class. We will support you by our presence and passion. Your active participation will motivate you and fuel your personal transformation
"Lourdes' deep knowledge and love of the philosophies, history and spiritual aspects of the practice, coupled with Pam's gifted ability to teach her extensive knowledge of anatomy, alignment and the physical asanas makes this TT one of the most well-rounded, informational and unique programs available." ~ Trayci, student from the Spring 2012 class
"The House of Shanti Teacher Training is truly special and unique. Through the expert guidance and nurturing of Lourdes and Pam I learned about the many dimensions of yoga, from the physical to the philosophical, deepening my experience and understanding of yoga. I cherish the connections I have formed with my classmates and the larger yoga community. Everyday I look forward to meeting them on the mat, and continuing to learn and grow together. Prepare to be transformed!" - Laura, student from the Spring 2012 class
