Salutations from my cushion, It is hard to believe that this is my 2nd winter at HPY . The year is coming to an end and I am elated with fond memories and to see everyone taking advantage of the warm studio (finally, whew!), sharing your beautiful energy while you practice. This time of year, while filled with the magic and cheer of the holidays, can also be stressful and draining. My wish for all of you, is that you can find time to bring yourself to your mat and connect with your breath. Your "Healing Power " , for some much needed clarity and solace. New Classes: Starting the week of Monday, January 5th. At Studio A, Wednesdays, 1pm Dynamic Flow will be taught by Hope. Check her class out. She is wonderful. Franklin will be offering a Vinyasa Flow for all levels on Wednesday evenings at 7pm, and teaches Mondays studio B, 9:30 Gentle Flow. Carl will be offering Meditation and dinner on Thursdays at 7pm. Sundays, we will offer a "power hour" high energy flow class. This class will be from 10:45 to 11:45. The teachers for this class will be John Jaksich and Debbie Muraff, who will be rotating to teach every other week. This fast paced flow class in intended to give students the opportunity to fit in a qualitative and time efficient yoga experience into your busy weekend schedule, and still be done before noon. At 4-5:15 pm on Sunday, Wendy will be teaching our newly revamped Karma Yoga. This class will be DONATION ONLY! Karma yoga is free and appropriate for all levels. The class is playful and energizing while at the same time rejuvenating and relaxing. It is a wonderful opportunity to meet other members of our kula and share the joy that yoga illuminates. The class is HPY's way of saying thank you for cultivating peace and balance in our community through the practice of yoga and for connecting to the stillness within. The greatest gift we all have to offer is our own inner peace. "silent sitting". This experience will be free of charge, and will start by being offered on Saturdays from 9:30 until 9:45, between Gayl and Liz's class. This time slot will feature no music, no movement, and no speaking. I will begin the session by ringing a bell 3 times. I will continue to ring the bell one time every 5 minutes. Ringing the bell will be a gentle guide to bring you back to your breath, or, if you are doing a shorter sitting, to finish and leave quietly. Anyone who has participated in a "silent sitting", knows how restorative and healing it can be. Many students find it difficult to sit in total silence for long periods of time, which is why we will begin with 5 minute intervals. I will conclude the sitting by ringing the bell 3 times. Take advantage of this silent sitting and try the silence; I promise you will not be disappointed! Cancelled Classes: Sunday, Teen Yoga at 11:30 at HPY studio A Wednesday, Gentle Yoga at noon, at NSWC, studio B I encourage feedback on all of our classes, so that we can continue to grow with you and your needs. Expired class packs!!!!! HPY will continue to honor all expired class packs until December 31st. Many of you have been requesting to use classes on packs that are expired. All of our class packs are good for one year, which is 6 months longer than any other studio is offering. Beginning January 1st, any expired packs will go down to zero value and will have to be renewed. Please be cognizant of what you have left and use the expired classes this month. If you need help with figuring out your pack please ask when you come in, or email me at info@healingpoweryoga.com. Finally, as it has come to be economically challenging to continue to practice as many times as we would like at Healing Power Yoga, I would like to offer to you some savings. For the month of December, HPY will be giving 1 class point back for a 10 class pack, 2 class points back for a 20 class pack, 3class points back for a 30 class pack and finally, 5 class points back for a 50 class pack. Remember, you have the inner knowing to practice on your own, even to commit to 30 minutes of practice including a silent sitting and breathing. Try it for 30 days.
